Hi guys

Been away from this site along time. I had a RVF, CBR, VFR and crappy (sorry Kawa owners) ZXR 400 before. I saw a CB400SF today and fell in love, what a nice looking bike and dead cheap. I have been thinking of buying one for commuting as I have had enough of proper race replica's (the RVF was great though). They tell me it has the NC 23 motor so I take it it should have enough go to keep things interesting ? I would apreciate any info you guys could give me. I have a choice between these two colours.

Welcome mate..

Firstly the SF are great bikes and yes they do have the NC23E engines although they use a different Gearbox.

IIRC its 55bhp with a 0-60 of approx. 5.5sec. slower then the CBR but nippy none the less

the project big 1's you're looking at were the first SF model made from 1992-1996. The older ones like mine don't have a fuel gauge.

if you look under the seat you can see a sticker with the model FIIR, FIIN, etc and the colour scheme (eg NH-237P)

also i don't think those colour schemes aren't original.

Yeah they are all resprayed and tidied up but all standard and in good condition. Handling with the old style rear shocks and pipe ? They also have Bandits in stock but I kinda prefer the Honda's looks.

the old pipe doesn't do the bike just in my opinion although it does sound good at high revs

as for handling the rear shocks are a little bouncy but make for comfortable riding.

i'm personally not to keen on the bandit 400's as they look a little too small but they are more modern looking.

Those bikes are in amazing condition minus the small dent on the exhaust.

I prefer the look of the gold (although ideally it'd be all black)

Looking at the engine casings the red one is a newer model and I have a feeling the rev counter casing on the gold one has been changed

defo the red one.

bandits have sloppy handling compared to the cb.
but they are a bit more raucus.

What are the 400 bandits like? I've only ridden the 600 and 1200 versions.

Honda CB400SF 1995.
