Hi guys, i am in the deep and dark plotting phase for a nc special.

Money is something i don't want to talk about just now (mainly as it makes me start to cry again....)

I have spoken to some about a side by side exhaust system, and i basically want to do the Tyga rvf look, i.e. suzuka endurance racers of the early - late nineties.

The other thing i am looking for is a set of upside down forks that would fit an NC30, or more specifically, the cnc machined yokes from Jap4performance, as they fit apparently.

I have looked on t'internet for the Marzocchi(spelling?) forks, i have found them but for the life of me i cannot find prices, i understand these wont be cheap, but i would like at least a ball park figure. All the official website gives me is technical details, there are no prices, even on US webpage.

Does anyone know of a similar fork manufacturer i.e. Ohlins as an example, that make USD forks that are designed\fit for the NC30\35.

Cheers all.

Try looking a bit harder on the Jap 4 site

(near the bottom of the page)

Did somebody call? The fitting kit works with the 748/749/916/999/1098 series of forks yokes and is disgustingly easy to fit (you can also use Aprilia forks), £73 to your door in the uk and £75 else where. It's machined from genuine Ducati parts and re-uses the Honda bearings.

Hi Riley, this is an interesting as Ducati forks are cheaper than brand new ohlins etc.

How does it actually work, i.e. if its ducati yokes, what fits into the frame?

Oh and does anyone know if the Honda is adverslely affected by the different suspension, i.e. is it too stiff etc.

When you say Aprilia forks, do you mean rs250 (obviously) but Mille as well etc?

Oh and can i still use the original front wheel or do i need ducati front, also can the original brake calipers be retained or is this basically a full front end job?

cheers

i found a distributor on the web. Marzocchi website sort-of, 43mm and 50mm sets £893 and £986 respectively (prices may be slightly diff, i am remembering them from last night.

The reason i was looking into them is that they will fit the NC with the Jap4 yokes and they are less than half price equivelant Ohlins etc.

The big issue is that while a ducati fork set would be nice, you can't use the original front wheel, and i wouldn't even know where to start regarding brakes, although ISR 6 pots are nice, but again, finding actual prices rather htan 'starting form £100' would be nice.

Finding trick parts in the UK is always a pain.

Mille forks are fine to use and if you use Ducati Ohlins yokes you can the same said forks too. The aprilia set up uses a 5 spoke wheel, and yes it is a complete front end swap.

You probably could with some cheap machining.

At any rate you could fit some super trick matching aftermarket wheels to suit the Duc front and NC rear. More street cred than shiny forks!

I think CraigS on here got his RVF fork legs gold TiN coated, looked sweet. Spend on the internals and they'll be as good as any brand names out there (and you can run the standard front wheel). It'll cost, but you'll get plenty of change out of a grand..!

Thats great, thanks for the pics.

What front wheel do you have on, is it a gsxr wheel, and did you just get spacers to fit?

Sorry for many questions, its just i like to get all the info before i plough on.

the problem is getting RVF front forks.

They are like hens teeth on flea-bay and the ones i have seen in breakers online, you can never be sure if they are like a banana.

there are 2 RVF's at one breakers i have seen, one looks fine, no front brake discs and no panels but forks look okay.

the other one has a big dent in the frame and the forks look like they are pointing straight down, i.e. big head on smash.

i hate living in Aberdeen, you are miles from any decent breakers where you can just pop in and have a look. ggrgrrrrr

I am only looking for costs just now, and in terms of bike purchasing, i am looking for after xmas.

The most annoying thing is, all the bikes that come up for sale are in the likes of London orr Sussex, and to go to get one of them takes a good days travel from Aberdeen.

The bikes up near aberdeen or within Scotland all have a premium because there are less of them.

There are a few bikes in and around that part of the UK, the biggest other issue is that i would need my dads mates car and trailer and thats a big ask, as i have cronh's disease it means i may have to drop everythuing and bolt to the bathroom without a lot of notice, so long car trips aren't fun for me, especially if there is traffic, and i dont fancy riding 400+ miles on an unfamiliar NC especially if i am looking for one Sub £1000, as i dont want panels etc as i will be changing them.

e-mailed graeme so we shall see.
