Guys and Gals,

I am going to remove the front wheel to try painting it myself and am a little unsure of how I should go about removing it due to the fact that there is the speedo and instead of having a nut on the right there is a hollow cylinder with 2 holes in it.

can someone just tell me what i need to do?

Regards,

Chris

it doesn't actually show me how to take them apart as such but rather what components form the front axle. I'm particular weary (spelling) of the speedo cable as if i damage it the bike goes into limp mode.

get a screwdriver thru the 2 little holes at the hollow end and twist from side to side while pulling the axle out.......i am assuming u have removed the axle nut off the other side and have the front end off the ground and secure.

Also if u are taking it off with the tyre on and inflated u will need to remove 1 caliper to allow clearance for the tyre.....Seeby.

Thanks Seeby.

No I haven't removed the wheel yet as I'm currently painting the rear one. Just planning ahead.

I Presume I also have to remove the 2 screws at the bottom of the fork? Regarding the speedo cable does anything need to be done to it..

don't remove the 2 pinch bolts at the bottom of the leg, just loosen em. as for the speedo drive, there is nothing that can really go wrong with it apart from a snapped cable which is unlikely just removing it and refitting. even if u did manage to snap it , its a piece o cake to fit a new'en.

cheers Seeby,

that's the main thing....

Not too worried about fitting a new, it's more about sourcing one..

I run a 110 front tyre and mine comes out without removing the caliper. Are you running a 120 seeby? Maybe my calipers are slightly different. Lucky me I suppose!
