had my superfour up on the dyno today i am quite impressed with the results except for the huge lean spike around 6k :/ makes 51bhp at peak :)

anyone know a way of quick way of fixing it?
guy at the dyno said to raise the clip on the needle and if that doesnt fix it to look for an electrical problem

was for another bike, but the flatspot was there before hand, i can remember the sudden surge of power when i reached 6.5k on the standard pipes as well as the ones that were on it previously in all respects its not that noticeable through the rev range :P |

yeah i notice a sudden surge of power at 6.5/7k on my Cb400sf with standard pipes. the same is also true on my mates Cb400sf so i think it's characteristic of the bike..
When you say for another bike, do you know what model it was for as i'm trying to find a slip on can for mine and don't know what i should look for when buying exhausts |

it was originally for an R1 i believe, 52mm bore, standard pipes were cut just after the the part where it bolts on under the footpegs and had a link pipe made up for it, exhaust was cut down as well. |

That lean/flatspot is present on many Hondas at those particular revs.
It's hard to eliminate it entirely, but you can minimise it a great deal by simply inserting a 0.5mm washer under each carb needle. This will slightly richen the mixture up at mid-revs only.
Your bike is also a bit lean at 10-11k rpm, new main jets that are one size bigger will fix that. With the above washers it will greatly improve the feel of the bike.

Oops just saw this bit.
You'll need to be raising the needle, you do this by lowering the clip (you can use washers if it doesn't have clips). |

I've got an R6 scorpion can on mine. But before that I had a full WRS exhasut system, i just swapped the cans over.
When we have the dyno set-up i'm going to be testing my superfour. |
