 A dead battery?

Like Yorkie, I also think my battery has died. This summer, the original battery went. Replaced it and have done around 1200 miles. Over the last few weeks, the battery has died twice. A charge starts the bike ok but a few rides later it has gone again.

When I bought the new battery, I was advised to give it a full charge before putting it on the bike but didn't have chance as I had to go away on it that day.

Could a brand new battery have died in 3 months or is it likely to be something more sinister?

I would suspect the bike's charging system rather than the battery.

Grab a multimeter and while the bike is running check the voltage. It should be 13.5-15.5v any less and the bike's charging system needs looking at.

To see which part is faulty, use a multimeter and follow this simple fault finding chart:
