Anyone help me out here lads? I recently got the exhaust welded at the mild steel collars . Problem was I only disconnected the negative battery lead before welding and now I have shagged the charging system. I fried the reg on the yellow connectors so I got a new reg and battery but still not charging.Would i have also damaged the alternator by not disconnecting battery before welding the exhaust/ All help greatly appreciated . Thanks

You know it makes sense.

sounds like an alternator problem, take it out and see if its fried :) if it is replace it,

or you can put a multi meter on there and check voltages but i cant remeber off the top of me head what they are, im sure someones got a link to it, but look at the alternatot first, will save all the fanning about with multimeter ect,.

You should of been ok with just the one battery terminal disconnected but if the welder had a bad earth it could of fried some your wiring. check all the wiring and connectors concerned.

To check the alternator, get your multimeter out and make sure non of the phases go to earth, that you have continuity between all the 3 phases and each phase is pumping out about 70 volts AC when rev'd.
