what tyre pressures does every one use for the road, just want to compare as never been told the correct pressures thanks

what you see depends on where your standing!

It depends in the first instance on what tyre you are using.

My other half has just fitted Dunlop Qualifiers to hers, Dunlop having spoken to them didnt list the tyre pressures but they recommended 33 front and 36 rear for her, and me being around 14.5st with kit on they recommended 34 front and 39 rear.

Most people tend to use 32 front and 36 rear which was the standard for sport tyres on the ZXR400, but even that is a guideline and you can sometimes find a better pressure (that gives the most feedback and grip) by adjusting a couple of psi either side until you feel comfortable with it.

depends if you want tire temp and grip levels high or high milage. 32 and 36 sounds ok for higher milage, I would drop the front a couple and the rear 2 to 4 to get the temps up and more grip, expect higher wear though. I race on Dunlops slicks and run 28 front and 27 rear set hot on the warmers, not realy applicable to the road of course, so as said earlier it depends on alot of different factors.

Cheers

I spoke to Dunlop technical development the other day to settle an argument about the Qualifiers that my missus fitted to her bike.

They agreed that the tyre temp and warm up time will be fine running at 33/36 for the road.

On the track side of life, i asked what pressures she should run with the same tyre.

The answer i got was that it should be the same for any tyre being used on the track.

2.1 Bar (30.5 psi) in the front

2.0 Bar in the rear

Run the tyre and if fine lower the 'rear' pressure by 0.09 BAR once cold

Go back out and if still fine repeat by lowering 0.09 BAR (again when cold)

Keep doing this until you reach a point where the tyre is no longer holding properly as you would expect, come back in, once cold raise it back by 0.09 BAR.

And that is seemingly the optimum pressures and the recommended method used by Dunlop (i would have to question that at Club racing level ).

Pirelli however just went with 30.5 front and 29 rear for their SuperCorsa Pro tyres regardless of bike.

At Bemsee where i am currently spannering for one of the top 5 Superbike 400 riders, his Pirelli slicks are run at around 31 front and 30 rear cold, if you are running with pressures as low as yours when they are hot then i dont follow how they are supposed to be working at their optimum pressure when out on track which is seemingly around 34 PSI (according to Dunlop and most other manufacturers) however if they work for you then it just highlights how different individual tyre pressures can be.

The lowest pressures i have ever seen run were 26 in the rear cold, never hot, they must be like riding a plate of jelly

its all about tire temperature not pressure, if the optimum temp is reached this is more important in my opinion.done a fair bit of testing here, when your suspension is right the tires dont get punished by crap suspenders you will find they will run cooler and you can/need to drop pressures to up temp. Too cool and you will cold tear them. Of course some peoples idea of suspension is that hard that the tire is forced to do alot of the work causing it to build heat without running lower pressures. The dunlop techs here recommend the higher pressures too. I have doubled my tire life with the lower pressures(no cold tearing) and are running 3rd and 2nd in club and nationals so I will stick to what works for me. Have used Brigestones and ran 30f and 29r in them.
Cheers.
