i have a loom that needs a few repairs (actually need a new loom but hey lol)and as a result i have had to strip off some of the tape around it,i was going to use just normal pvc electrical tape but had heard it makes the look very hard and unwilling to bend
so what have other on here used for loom tape,it there a specail tape you can buy that won't make the loom rigid but will keep it all from falling apart?
i had a look on ebay but only one looks like it would do the job, this looks like the stuff and this just looks like pvc electrical tape ,'the finested harness tape available' or is it just more ebay sh1te |

I've been using heat shrink to any 'amendments' I've needed to make to my NC30's wiring. |

Don't use insulation tape ... the glue goes all runny and gets everywhere. |

normal leky tape sucks.. after a few days it starts to peel off and looks a mess! recommend.... heat shrink with a hot air gun/hair dryer material/cloth tape that set with heat |

have used the self amalgamating tape lots of times and as said at first it seems not to stick but when it does its good, the trick is to wrap it as tight as you can so it stretches on. Russ |

I dont know what make of PVC electrical tape you lot are using..... But I always use PVC Electrical tape for my looms.... Ive had no trouble whatsoever with it!! My loom is bendy enough to go where I want it to, and rigid enough to stay in place... It has not leaked glue anywhere (Even the bits around the engine block) and has not started to peel since the day I put it on there ~ 2.5 years ago.
There are some pretty shoddy examples of PVC tape around, but if you get a good one, then its perfectly fine to use... |

PVC tape by its nature - less viffer stuff is 'Majic Smokio Tape PVC (T)'- will not properly for a water tight seal. But yes good stuff is good (but howd you tell? quality of foreighn stuff, poor spelling ~ bad puntuation .....)
I wouldn't say stretch the amalgamated stuff as hard as you can - as it will stretch for miles - but yeah give it a goood pull, and use plenty of over lapp. Its like that rubbery wrapp found on dropp down handle bars on racing cycles, matt textured and grippy. |
Wot IS that... musk?? |

Use the correct loom tape - bit like a junior version of SAT - I buy it from Vehicle Wiring Products - then use the sticky std. electrical stuff to seal the ends.
I have several rolls in stock - £2 a roll delivered if that helps.
Cheers
