Hi All,

Got a '95 cb400sf in a two tone silver/navy. A colour i have yet to see on the site

Need some help to gwet it on the road.

I saw on the forum here a while back a plastic cover for the speedo clock to replace my worn one, can anyone help me find one.

Also the bike came without a left rear view mirror. It has snapped off at the base so i think i need a whole new clutch/choke assembly, any ideas where to look? David silver quote was quite high.

Finally my main stand is VERY stiff. Still works fine after a good shove it will go up, plastered it in WD40 but no real improvement, anyone got any ideas.

Chhers

Hi Mace,

My friend also has a 95 CB4000sf in that colour :-)

regarding the clock covers well they're quite expensive although i've heard the CB1 and very early hornet covers fit (try a honda dealer or ebay).

Exactly what do you mean by the mirror has snapped off at the base???

Is the clutch assembly still good but the mirror has the screw still stuck in the clutch assembly..

You've got 4 possible options in my opinion:
a) Drill into the remaining screw with a smaller sized drill bit this will compromise the screw and let you collapse the screw on itself. With the drill bit in there Let the drill stop so it becomes wedged in the screw and slowly hit reverse on the drill as it might partially unscrew it. Otherwise just try and collapse the screw on itself
b) if the screw is stuck in but is sticking out above the clutch assembly you can try welding a bolt head onto it and unscrewing it like that
c) If your bike has removable bar ends just buy bar-end mirrors
d) my least favourite is to buy the new clutch assembly

Regarding the main stand, Have you cleared all the grease, dirt, etc from the hinge with a brush??? If so check if the bolts were tightened correctly or if you can just change the spring

Or you could drill into the screw and unscrew it using a stud extracter, if you don't have one you might be able to borrow one from a mechanic. They're conical (the extracter, not mechanics!) with an archimedes-style screw thread that bites into the sides of the hole you drill. Make sure you get the right size for the hole you drill, or vice versa.

Good luck with it mate.

Cheers for reply, will try and source a cb1 clock cover.

RE the mirror, im afraid its snapped off, below the screw section so need a whole new clutch lever perch holder, luckily found one on wemoto yesterday and seems reasonable at £19.98.

Does anyone know why wemoto has 2 seperate parts sections for the cb400sf? the F2 and F3?

I know mine is NC31 frame but no idea what F stands for?

With reguards to your center stand mine was exactly the same when i got it. i just gave it a good clean with brake and clutch cleaner then used sone spray-on white grease. It took a good few days before it loosened up but it did. Keep putting on the white grease.

If you aint livin on the edge - your takin up too much room!

Lots and lots of Hondas have that clutch assembly, so you will probably get one cheap on ebay. Don't be afraid to buy an ass'y and bin a bent lever, or see if a clutch cable might fit, or even put it back on the bay if not.

Wemoto had them cheap a while back, like £50 each. Not worth getting s/h at those prices.

Alternatively, check out this thread (I thought I might have to replace my forks recently and got given some good advice about what fits from other Hondas).

If you're still looking, I can get clock covers a lot cheaper direct from Japan. They fit the early Superfours and CB-1s.
