Hvae recently added vampire cans to my 73a...and it wasnt running cleanly...so booked it in for a dyno run and 'tune the carbs to the pipes please'
Bike went in yesterday, and I'm due to pick it up lunchtime today. The dyno bloke has embaressed me..by mentioning bike had odd plugs fitted...and had to replace all plug caps are arking out, sometimes with bike only running on 3 cyclinders.
once sorted, before tuning 48 horses, after stripping all 4 carbs then tune....57 horses!!...will have dyno print out later....I'm expecting a different bike to ride home!! |

This is my 1990 GSXR400 GK76A with 35000km (+/-22000miles) on the clock. Only mods is a really loud "homemade" exhaust can. Just had the Carbs serviced, and changed the emulsion tubes (highly recommend doing this!!!) With a leaner mixture it was making more power up top (57bhp), but i prefered more torque in the mid-range. I also opted for a 14:45 srocket arrangement (one more tooth on the rear), so it really pulls from anywhere in the rev range.

Hi all i am a dyno facility and i have just got in a gsxr 400 gk76athingy to convert to a race bike. Now it was originaly suposed to be a sp model i am unsure i am reading articles on here to try and find out. I have had no look what so ever in locateing anything close to a manual. But i am going to undertake a little engine work on this motor. Nothing to sever just raise the compression open up the valve pockets multi angle seat was also interested in reading about using a inlet cam for exhaust may look into that. i have with the bike at my disposal 2 other engines one suposobly being a vtec one. anyone know anything about them. the other motor had just 32mm carbs on. the one in this bike has 35mm carbs with a tp sensor on carbs. The one with the larger carbs has a bent crank due to a crash so i am going to build up on motor hopfully based on the sp (if thats what they are) does the sp have a close ratio gearbox? I have absolutly now information of these motors i didnt evern know there was a gsxr section on this site i been using it for yrs. as for the dynos. I ran the bike up (i have a dynapro t62) with the engine that the owner fitted with smaller carbs. It wasnt running well and barly made 40 bhp (my dyno reads low).
with using the sp motor bits i am junking the air box and running open carbs with velocity stacks (set up) stock header pipes and a race can posibly a new ignition system (i sell stand alone fully programable any carb bike with quickshifter inputs and servo drive outputs and a few other handy features for under £200) what figures would i be hopeing to see. Id like to think that one of these bikes ( i know nothing about) would of made 60 ish with a exhaust so would 65 or so be asking way to much. I have produced a vfr400 that actually makes more power than a rlr 76bhp rvf. if the best i can expect out of one of these is sub 60 i think the customer needs a change of bike. I will hopefully have this done before xmas as i need it out my shop i will post my dyno results. Any help on any of that apreiciated.
Also does a 750 mechanical chain tensioner fit? |

Can a mod move this to a new thread this is for readouts mainly. Yes the sp had 35mm carbd. And 40hp does seem very low. |
