Out of these two 400s which would you say is better overall?
pros and cons of each?
You ALL seem to be brilliant help for this sort of thing so give me all you've got!
Of course it matters what you use them for e.g. track or road, so im talkin everyday road use all weathers.
Help me decide cos appart from the engine format theres not a load of difference, is there???? |

nc30,don't dare come into the vfr section and ask otherwise or i'll be forced to slap you........
in all seriousness but i'd still take the nc30,the seat height on the cbr is a little small for me but you might differ don't know how hard it is to get spares for the cbr but there are always ones getting broke on evilbay and i think the rvf/vfr section on this forum is the busiest(stand to be corrected) sit on both, ride both and whatever you choose will be the right one, after all it's a honda...... |

coming and asking that in here is like going to a Camra meeting and asking lager or stout!
for me - it is beer all over and in any format..lol
NC30 for me too - they rule and have more "quality" about them with more heritage and so on.
CBR400 are bloody good though - my local shop got on in adn as they know me as Mark..with the NC30 I was offered a go on it to see if they would get me to buy it./
it was wicked - sounded superb and was very quick - handling was suspect but my bike is well setup so no comparison. Would get one if I had to..but if you can..get an NC30 - you will not regret it!
welcome too... |

Having both bikes, here's what I think:
CBR: smallish for sure. The bike its self is more high strung and wants to be flogged mercilessly. It will taunt you until you do so, and then it will reward you with insane handling. Pretty reliable, ride it in high rpm's. Parts are a little more scarce and knowledge not as thick as a vfr/rvf, but it is availible.
VFR: more roomy for the rider. Likes to be ridden a couple k lower in the rpm range. Once set up, it'll rail, but it doesnt beg to be flogged like the cbr does. Its more of a solid work horse that really is good for everything, except jumping big doubles. Parts and knowledge seems more readily availible. All in all, a bit more freindly than the CBR, but this also depends on the person and how/ where they ride.
EVERYTONE that has ridden my CBR loved it instantly. Most of them had to do a couple sessions on the VFR/RVF, then they liked them. I think this has more to do with the popularity of inline 4's and more people being familiar with riding them than anything. |

had a 29 and hated it, revvy, and while fun on back lanes was rubbish revving its nuts off on mway or dual roads. NC30 far more useable and easier to live with day in day out. brakes were rubbish on my 29 but it was ok when on its side. i still prefer a NC30 and prefer the 30 over the 35 too for some reason. i wouldnt swop 2 mint good 29's for 1 good mint 30 |

Ive rode both, although have never owned either, but the CBR always had to be revved hard, and the VFR feels like more of a mans bike, and is far more exotic, in my opinion. |
