Seems I have made a mistake and went and lost/destroyed my crank bearings during my rebuild. I would contact my Navy buddy who is in Japan, but he is currently unavailable for about 6 months (if you know what I mean). I know there are certain part numbers required based on case markings, but I was wondering if A.- anybody had some laying around, or B.- is there a cross reference for another bike that uses the same parts in the U.S.? Your input is greatly appreciated, Anthony

A. Nope, I just used all of mine in a rebuild. B. Nope, there are no cross references.
But there is hope! I have a mate in Japan too, and I can get you whatever parts you may need. Shoot me an email if you need me to place an order!

first, use the chart in the manual to sort you bearings.
once you have the part numbers, call your local honda shop and see if they can get them. All of my cbr400 stuff was availible domestically, but i dont know about the vfr/rvf
I order all of my bits thru www.redline-ci.com He (Craig) always has all my stuff on my door step with 2 weeks from Japan |

If you need them real quick, contact Mike Norman of G-Force as they always have some in stock for all the rebuilds they are doing.
If you can wait, get the part number info and contact Rick Oliver! |

Need new help. I received an email from my father about the crank bearings, but we can't make out which part numbers we are supposed to use because the parts list is too blurry. Can anyone tell me the part number needed? here's the email-
quote: Here it is, upper case bearing ID BBAA. Crankshaft ID 2222. on page 2.52 these codes call out bearing colors brown, brown, green, green. A=(33.000 to 33.008 mm) 2=(30.002 to 30.010 mm). B=(33.008 to 33.016 mm) I have confirmed this by checking the old bearings in the lower crank case and they match
Thank you in advance. |

So basically I need to order part numbers: 13315-KE7-013 total of 4 13323-ML0-721 total of 4, correct? I would appreciate the confirmation, it would put my brain at ease. Thanks VFRman for the link and help. |

Hang tight, this is going to really confuse you. THE HONDA MANUAL IS WRONG!!!!!
Your codes are: CASE: B B A A CRANK: 2 2 2 2 Bearings BRN BRN GRN GRN
According to the book, you would need the following bearings:
QTY PART No. DESCRIPTION 2 13314-KE7-013 Outer Main Bearing, Brown 2 13315-KE7-013 Outer Main Bearing, Green 2 13323-ML0-721 Inner Main Bearing, Brown 2 13324-ML0-721 Inner Main Bearing, Green
STOP THERE!!!! Let's look at the diameter codes and thickness codes:
CASE CODES: (A) 33.000 - 33.008mm This is the SMALLEST Hole (B) 33.008 - 33.016mm This is the LARGEST Hole
CRANK O.D. CODES: (1) 29.994 - 30.002mm This is the SMALLEST Pin (2) 30.002 - 30.010mm This is the LARGEST Pin
BEARING THICKNESS: BROWN 1.498 - 1.502mm This is the THICKEST Bearing GREEN 1.494 - 1.498mm This is the MIDDLE Bearing YELLOW 1.490 - 1.494mm This is the THINNEST Bearing.
If you had the LARGEST Pin (2) in the SMALLEST Hole (A) you would need the THINNEST Bearing (YELLOW).
If you had the SMALLEST Pin (1) in the LARGEST Hole (B), you would need the THICKEST Bearing (BROWN).
Therefore, this is the Corrected Chart:
Using the Corrected Chart, you would need the following bearings:
CASE: B B A A CRANK: 2 2 2 2 Bng: GRN GRN YEL YEL
QTY PART No. DESCRIPTION: 2 13315-KE7-013 Outer Main Bearing, Green 2 13316-KE7-013 Outer Main Bearing, Yellow 2 13324-ML0-721 Inner Main Bearing, Green 2 13325-ML0-721 Inner Main Bearing, Yellow

Now ya dun it. I are totally corn-fused. It is a really good thing that your around to explain all this. I kinda understand, but you can bet I am saving the correct chart for my records, hell this entire post, so IF I have to do this again I won't be lost. Thank you for the insight, and for being there for the community as a whole. |
