HI Guys,

Im new to the forum and FZR's I had bikes when i was younger and fancied getting back into them.

Any way i bought a 1994 FZR in fairly bad condition as a project for the summer.

However looking through pics on different sites im a little confused the bike is registered as a 94 bike and the papers for it seem fine but it looks similar to the bike in this link http://www.bikepics.com/pictures/825079/ same shape back and twin headlights at the front and doesnt really look like any other 94 FZR's i've seen.

The guy i bought it from thought it was a import from somewhere. Just wondering what you guys think im not really to worried as most of teh bike will be replaced bar the engine and i didnt pay a huge amount of money for it.

cheers
Mike

Hi, welcome to the forum.

This link should help you find out which model you have.

http://www.madsi.co.uk/models.aspx

If your bike is registered on a V5 owners document and is listed as '94 on the "Date of first registration in the UK" then that is the year it was imported into the UK.
Look on section 10 of the V5, the green "New Keepers Suppliment" there should be a declared date of manufacture which looks like this (DECL/D MANUF 19**) the last 2 numbers will be the year your bike was built.
Hope this is helpful.

I only please one person per day.
Today is not your day, tomorrow isn't looking good either.

Hi oollit

Thanks for the welcome

looking at that link it looks the same as a 86 model. yet the bike in the link in the first post cliams to be a 89 ?

In Ireland it doesnt matter when you import the bike it gets a reg plate from the year of manufacture.

It just seems a little weird that it looks like the 86 model but has a 94 plate. Also if you look on www.bikepicks.com the bikes look different through out the years is this a case of people putting their bike in the wrong year bracket or were only certain models release in some countries?

cheers

Check your frame number against the ones shown on

http://www.madsi.co.uk/models.aspx

Thats the only way to get a true year of manufacture

alright guys,

Checked the model list on http://www.madsi.co.uk/models.aspx and it wasnt listed so i stuck the model number into google and it seems that the bike is a import from america 90/91

here is the link if anyone is interested http://www.commline.com/FZR/400/MANUAL/Service_Manual-corrected/FZR400_Service_Manual_Ch1_corrected.pdf

Still dont know how it ended up registered as a 96.
